The Deck of Many Things is an in-game item for the role-playing-game of D&D, where players draw a random card to realize its effects. It’s inspired by the real-life Major Arcana of tarot, and even features a few similar cards like Death, Moon, and Star.

While the Deck of Many Things was made for gaming, the standard 78-card Tarot deck we know today was also based on the 17th century medieval game of Tarocchi, so, you know, don’t let the man tell you what to do.
