Ephemere is the sister deck to TrueBlack. The classic Fool’s Journey is reimagined as a new odyssey inspired by literary classics and ancient mythologies.

Using modified Major Arcana cards combined with traditional RWS minor arcana, this deck follows the Hero’s Journey, a story that is both familiar and refreshing, intuitively relatable and timelessly relevant.

Like TrueBlack, this deck features:

  • Inks from Japan

  • Coatings from Spain

  • Foil from Germany

  • Cut with custom-fabricated tungsten blades from Switzerland

  • Printed on artisanal paper in the United States

Each deck contains:

  • 82 cards on thick, 16pt nonreflective matte stock

The booklet, co-written by Mat Auryn and Arthur Wang, will detail the similarities and differences between these new cards and the traditional RWS majors, as well as diving into the expanded storyline of the Hero’s Journey.

The Minor Arcana cards still follow traditional Rider Waite-Smith symbolism and the classic 4 suits.

The Major Arcana cards have been reimagined as a "Hero's Journey" in place of the classic "Fool's Journey". These reimagined majors are:
